Cookie notice
This page explains the cookies and similar browser storage used on fruitprobe.com, what each category does and how to switch them off. It sits alongside our privacy notice.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a site asks your browser to keep, so that the site can recognise the browser on the next request. Sites also use local storage and similar mechanisms, which work in the same way and are covered by this notice.
Necessary
Always active, because the site cannot work correctly without them. They store no marketing data.
- fp-cookie-choice — local storage entry that remembers whether you accepted or declined the optional categories, so the banner does not appear again. Kept until you clear your browser storage.
- Hosting and security entries — set by our hosting and content delivery provider to route requests and to filter abusive traffic. Typical duration from one session up to 12 months.
Analytics
Used only if you accept this category. These entries help us count visits, see which notes are read and understand which device sizes matter for the layout. The data is looked at in aggregate.
- Audience measurement entries — an anonymous visitor identifier, the pages viewed and the approximate region. Typical duration up to 13 months.
Advertising and marketing
Used only if you accept this category. This covers push notifications and the measurement of promotional links.
- OneSignal entries — our push provider stores an identifier for your browser subscription and technical settings needed to deliver a notification. The provider's script is loaded with the page so the subscription can be created, but no notification is sent and no address is added until you tick the consent box in the newsletter form and allow notifications in the browser prompt. Duration: until the subscription is removed or the browser storage is cleared.
- Advertising partner entries — set when a promotional link to a Google Play listing is displayed or measured, to count how often it was shown. Typical duration up to 13 months.
Your choice
The banner at the bottom of the page lets you accept or decline the optional categories, and your answer is stored locally. To change it later, clear the site data for fruitprobe.com in your browser and the banner will appear again on the next visit.
Turning cookies off in the browser
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies and Site settings.
- Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage website data.
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.
Blocking necessary entries may break parts of the site, such as remembering that you already answered the banner.
Turning push notifications off
Open the site information menu next to the address bar, find Notifications and set it to Block, or remove fruitprobe.com from the notification list in your browser settings. You can also write to the desk and we will delete your push identifier and your newsletter address together.
